Rebecca Searle was awarded her doctorate in 2011. A partnership with the University of Sussex, her thesis looked at Working Space, Production and Visual Culture: Aircraft in Wartime Britain, 1939-45.
After completing her PhD she held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Paul Mellon Centre to prepare a book Art, Propaganda and the Experience of Aerial Warfare in Britain during the Second World War based on her thesis. She also became a research fellow at the University of Sussex, working on the ESRC funded project, ‘Living Standards of Working Households in Britain, 1904–1960’.
