Do you know?
- Lyme Hall is one of the largest houses in Cheshire. Dating from Elizabethan times, it was later remodelled to create an Italianate palace.
- The Cage was built in 1580 as a hunting lodge and rebuilt in 1737. It was also used as a prison for poachers and shares a resemblance with the Tower of London where the owner of the Hall had been imprisoned for treason in 1694.
- There have been native red deer here for over 600 years. They take their name from their bright summer coat and are Britain’s largest wild mammal.
