Professional summary

Bronwen obtained a B.Sc. in Science and the Environment from De Montfort University in 1996. Her studies included a placement year with the RSPB and Wildlife Trusts where she focused her studies agricultural practices and the environment. Bronwen continued with this theme pursuing her further education at Bangor University in 1997 completing an M.Sc. in World Animal Production. 

In 1998 Bronwen joined UKCEH (formally the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology) where she has had a varied career, starting out as a field scientist, moving into informatics in 2003 prior to taking a lead role in science programme management. She has managed the Welsh Government funded Environment and Rural Affairs Monitoring & Modelling Programme — ERAMMP — since 2012. ERAMMP is a 20-year programme that delivers national natural resources monitoring and modelling to inform and develop policy and provides evidence for a range of national and international reporting requirements.

In 2021, Bronwen became Head of the Land, Soil and Coast group. Her multidisciplinary teams deliver large-scale monitoring, modelling and integrated ecosystem assessments to make change possible. Their work advances ecosystem understanding while co-developing solutions that strengthen resilient landscapes, seascapes and people. 

Bronwen became Head of Site of UKCEH Bangor in January 2022. The office houses over 75 scientists in the Environment Centre Wales.
