Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to make a significant difference in health and care settings. We’re already seeing numerous applications of AI technology, and more work is underway to fully harness its benefits and use AI safely and ethically at scale. AI as a specialised technology differs in many ways to other medtech technologies. Addressing these AI considerations is the focus of the NHS AI team.

The NHS AI Team aims to lead the NHS in harnessing AI innovations to deploy them in an ethical, efficient, and responsible manner that delivers enhanced health outcomes and system efficiencies, while upholding transparency, trust, and patient safety. Our mission is to embed responsible, ethical and sustainable AI into NHS services to improve patient care, optimise resources, and empower NHS staff.

We are creating this AI knowledge repository to enable the responsible adoption of AI in the NHS by providing a suite of resources for all those working within healthcare to access.

Articles, case studies and resources on this workspace may reference work undertaken with a specific supplier to deliver the described services. However, other suppliers may offer similar solutions. NHS England does not endorse any particular supplier, and organisations should adhere to their procurement policies and commercial processes when selecting suppliers to ensure compliance and value for money.

AI Ambassador Network

Have you joined yet?

The AI Ambassador Network is a 12,500 strong community of practice for healthcare professionals and others interested in AI in health and social care.

Members share ideas, learning and practical applications, and are actively contributing to the Healthcare AI Roadmap within the NHS 10 year plan.

The network hosts monthly meetings with an evolving member led agenda and dedicated learning sessions on key AI topics.

Membership is open to anyone with an nhs.net or gov.uk email address.
