This website is run by General Pharmaceutical Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website.
For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability. See the Ability net website
How accessible is this website?
This website was last tested for accessibility by the Shaw Trust in March 2026 against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2, to levels A and AA.
The retest confirmed that many of the issues identified during the previous audit have now been resolved. Improvements include updates to heading structure, form labelling, non-descriptive links are now fully descriptive and button labelling.
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- there are tables that have not been coded correctly
- some content changes on screen without telling certain users
- there are some areas of the site that can only be accessed with a mouse or pointing device meaning some users will not be able to access content
- there are some downloadable documents that are inaccessible for users
We have worked hard to resolve most of the issues initially identified and will continue making further improvements to address the areas of the website affected by the accessibility issues listed above.

General Pharmaceutical Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2, to levels A and AA. due to the non-compliances listed below.
Partly compliant content
The following areas that were non-compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA:
- Some tables are not fully marked up in a way that makes them accessible to screen reader users.
- There are remaining issues with keyboard navigation order on some pages.
- Some interactive areas still rely on mouse interaction.
- The colour contrast of a yellow focus highlight used on some pages does not meet the minimum required standard, which may make it harder for some users to see which element is currently selected when navigating using a keyboard.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We have worked with Shaw Trust Accessibility Services to test our website content and are working with our digital partner to resolve the issues identified above to improve accessibility in the coming weeks. We will continue to audit our website for accessibility on a regular basis.

Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 10th April 2026. This website was last tested on 30th March 2026.
The tests were carried out by Shaw Trust Accessibility Services. A selection of pages were manually tested by a team of users with disabilities, and the whole site was scanned and checked for code errors. All testing was carried out to WCAG 2.2 standards.
