Financial Headlines – April to January 2026
The RDTC produces a range of reports that monitor primary care spend at National, Regional, Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Sub-Integrated Care Board Locality (SICBL) level. These reports are available to stakeholders with a registered account via the links provided below:
- During April to January 2026 primary care spend in England on items from the BNF rose by approximately 3.33% to a total of £9.1B, an increase of around £292.5M when compared to spend for the same period in the previous financial year.
- Of that total approximately £8.1B was spent in England on the top 50 BNF sections, which accounted for 89.4% of the total spend, and approximately £4.6B was spent on the top 50 drugs, accounting for approximately 51.2% of the total spend on the full BNF.
- Drugs given price concessionary status during the period April 2025 to March 2026 are predicted to have a cost impact of approximately £158.7M across England. Of that total the 20 drugs, out of 367 given price concessionary status in total over this period, responsible for the highest cost impact over April 2025 to March 2026 totalled £83.8M which was 52.8% of the total cost impact for this period.
