NJR regional events

We are always pleased to invite all staff in both NHS and independent sector hospitals to attend the NJR annual programme of free-to-attend regional events.

By attending an NJR event, delegates will take away skills to demonstrate the highest possible standards of clinical governance that all hospitals strive to achieve. All staff involved with the NJR process in your hospitals are welcome including: data entry, pre-assessment, theatre, clinical governance staff, surgeons, managers and nurses.

Because the NJR is a national mandatory audit, time to attend can be requested from your line manager to support your attendance, as part of ongoing continuing professional development training, we provide formal attendance certificates for all delegates. The programme presents a unique networking opportunity for all those engaged with the NJR and involved in assuring data quality and patient safety.

We will soon advise our regional event plans for 2026

Day Case Knee Arthroplasty – BADS conference
12 May 2026 (online)

A joint British Association of Day Surgery (BADS) & HCUK (virtual conference)

Elective recovery still remains a significant focus of the NHS. Although progress has been made on long waits, waiting list numbers remain at record highs and in response, the Elective Recovery Taskforce has been set up to help tackle this further.

Join this event to see how hospitals across the UK have been leading the journey to successful day case surgery. Learn how to embark on your day case journey and also see how Elective hubs can increase day case numbers further. You will also see how digital technology can aid this and move us towards a more virtual way of working.

Prehabilitation: Principles & Practice for supporting patients to get fit for surgery/treatment
15 May 2026 (virtual conference)

Prehabilitation is a proactive approach to optimising patient health before undergoing a procedure or treatment. Prehabilitation comprises multidisciplinary healthcare interventions, including exercise, nutritional optimisation, and psychological preparation, which aim to improve outcomes and readiness for surgery or cancer treatment, with the aim being to shorten the period of recovery, reduce complications, and improve the quality of recovery and quality of life

This conference focuses on Prehabilitation – Principles and Practice and offers a comprehensive and practical guide to delivering an effective prehabilitation programme, ensuring patients are fit and optimised for surgery. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the latest trends, latest evidence-based practice including the October 2025 updated guidelines, and strategies to optimise patient outcomes within the NHS. The conference will look at preoperative optimisation of patients’ fitness and wellbeing through exercise, nutrition and psychological support, integrating prehabilitation into the care pathway, the relationship between prehabilitation and sleep, as well as behaviour change, and also how to measure the outcomes of prehabilitation. Throughout the day, there will be interactive sessions, small breakout groups, and collaborative exercises, fostering a dynamic learning experience.

Hip Fracture Summit 2026: Improving Care, Outcomes & Patient Experiences
19 June 2026 (virtual conference)

Through national updates and practical case studies the conference will highlight best practice in hip fracture care, improving the care pathway, patient experience and outcomes, and will also focus on improving assessment, minimised delays to theatre, improving the pathway from falls to theatre, changing the role of the emergency department, ensuring hip fracture patients are prioritised for surgery, improve patient experience of hip fracture care, overcome contraindications, improving the anaesthetic and surgical pathway, and ensuring prompt mobilisation after surgery.
