Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE)
The Cloud and Hosting Centre of Excellence (C&HCoE) exists to define, promote, and uphold national standards for secure, resilient, and high quality cloud and hosting infrastructure and provision across the NHS

It is focused across the following core investment priorities:
- enable NHS providers to adopt and progress their Cloud First strategy to support continued digital transformation and support reduction in legacy technology
- enable NHS providers to adopt and achieve cloud services and compliance, removing org capability and capacity barriers
- enable NHS providers to adopt and achieve cloud first compliance
The Centre of Excellence (CoE) provides strategic leadership, expert guidance, and targeted support to help organisations identify and address infrastructure and provision gaps, prioritise investment, and strengthen the digital foundations to drive establishment of cloud strategies and adoption to the provision required for safe, effective, and integrated care.
Through collaboration with industry partners, government, and providers, the CoE fosters innovation and best practice, ensuring NHS providers achieve cloud and hosting maturity, supporting the delivery of care and enabling locally led transformation.
Overview
A centre of excellence develops common solutions, promotes best practice and acquires new skills that are then spread throughout the enterprise to increase the likelihood of adopting new ways of working to realise value and allow teams to become self-sufficient.
We provide support and services to help NHS organisations adopt and optimise Cloud hosting arrangements to drive consistency and efficiency for the wider NHS through a series of guilds and standards.
The NHS Cloud strategy has been shaped by a requirement for government organisations to evaluate public Cloud solutions before other hosting options, as highlighted in the government's Cloud First policy, Technology Code of Practice, Cloud guide for the public sector and the NHS Cloud strategy. Where you have no choice but to host on-premises, use Crown Hosting, which represents the best option for government, allowing rapid contracting, reducing risk and effort.
Government Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO) Cloud Collection provides a Cloud Resources Hub which is a comprehensive platform designed to support public sector organisations in their cloud technology journey, and offers an extensive range of resources, including policies, guidance, case studies, community engagement opportunities, and learning materials through a knowledge hub and community for collaboration.
