The workforce lens describes the core data elements necessary to effectively manage, plan, and deploy the millions of people who deliver health and care services across the NHS.

It standardises the capture of information regarding professional roles, staff deployment, training, capacity, and skill mix across all settings. This standardisation is crucial for informing strategic HR planning, optimising resource allocation, and supporting regulatory requirements related to staff assurance and safety. By providing a unified view of personnel data, this lens underpins efficient operational reporting and aids in the development of targeted recruitment and retention strategies.
