Compensation if you're a victim of crime abroad
You may be able to apply for compensation if you’re a UK resident and have been injured because of a violent crime in another country.
You usually need to report the crime to police in the country in which the crime happened before you apply for compensation. Find out how to report a crime abroad and get help.
The following countries have compensation schemes open to UK residents:
Albania, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden or Switzerland.
Other countries might have compensation schemes.
