Water Efficiency Fund

About the Water Efficiency Fund

The WEL is part of Ofwat’s new £100 million Water Efficiency Fund (WEF), which has been established to drive a transformative, sustained, and measurable reduction in water demand across England and Wales.

Alongside the WEL will be theWater Efficiency Campaign (WEC) – up to £75 million across 5 years to promote behaviour change that encourages people and businesses to use less water.

Water Efficiency Campaign

The WEC will be a high-profile, cross-sector behaviour change campaign that encourages people and businesses to use less water, with a longer-term focus on cultural and behavioural shifts.

By 2055, England will face a 5 billion litre daily gap between the amount of water available and the amount needed – unless action is taken now. The WEC seeks to address this challenge head on by using marketing expertise and consumer insight to empower customers to save money on their water bill by helping them reduce their usage.

The procurement process for the Water Efficiency Campaign Delivery Body is now underway.
