Peer Support Worker (Community Setting)

Here at CWPT, we value lived experience and the impact it can have in the recovery of the people we care for. It is why we’re embedding lived experience roles across our mental health and learning disability services, and we’re looking for a Peer Support Worker (PSW) to join us at this exciting time.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who has had direct first-hand experience of being supported by mental health services such as Early Intervention in Psychosis Teams and CMHT’s (Community Mental Health Teams).

This may include receiving help with daily living skills, building confidence, developing independence, managing mental health challenges, or working towards personal recovery goals.
This could also include knowledge and understanding of different coping skills and mechanisms, and using these to support another person’s recovery. We are looking for someone who feels comfortable drawing on and using their lived experiences, to show empathy and understanding to help others and to inspire hope and recovery. As this role is within a community setting, we are looking for someone who has resilience, great communication skills and willing to utilise and share their lived experiences to support others.

The successful candidate will work within our Enablement Team which is just over 18 months old. We are a team whose Ethos is CHIME (Connectedness, Hope, Identity, Meaning and Empowerment and we want to ensure the individuals we work with benefit greatly from this way of working to promote lifelong recovery.

In this role the appointed candidate will take on further training such as PSW training and Care Certificate. Completion of the 2-day introduction to PSW via the Recovery
and wellbeing Academy is extremely advantageous prior to interview. The PSW employed will be supported by the Senior PSW to safely navigate and thrive in the role. The PSW will also work alongside teams to help engage and deliver services and promote recovery.

Your impact will be wide-reaching. As well as working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you’ll work closely with the Recovery and Wellbeing Academy, which delivers educational courses and workshops to anyone over the age of 18 living in Coventry and Warwickshire. You will contribute to the co-creation and delivery of these workshops and courses.
