We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Cover Supervisor to join our fantastic team at Chorlton High School.

We are seeking a confident, organised and enthusiasticCover Supervisorto join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with students, supporting learning across the curriculum, and contributing to a positive school culture.
Thisis a permanent, full-time post working 35 hours per week, term time only plus 1 week. The starting salary is £24,998 and the full time equivalent us £29,064 Grade 5. To start on 1st September 2026.
About the Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged in learning and classroom expectations are maintained. You will also support curriculum areas, work collaboratively with teachers and support staff, and contribute to the wider life of the school.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supervising lessons using pre-prepared work
• Managing student behaviour positively and effectively
• Supporting teaching and learning across departments
• Providing feedback on student progress and engagement
• Assisting with classroom resources and displays
• Supporting examinations, trips and enrichment activities
• Undertaking break/lunch duties and wider school support tasks
This is a supervisory role rather than a teaching post and is therefore suitable for applicants without a formal teaching qualification. It would particularly suit graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced teaching assistants or individuals with experience working with young people.
We are looking for someone who:
• Has good literacy and numeracy skills
• Has experience working with children or young people
• Builds positive relationships with students and staff
• Is calm, flexible and organised
• Works effectively as part of a team
• Is committed to safeguarding and inclusion
• Demonstrates professionalism, tact and enthusiasm
