Crynodeb
You will lead by example, demonstrating RPA values and maintaining responsibility for key operational delivery areas including HR, performance, risk, finance, governance and compliance. This includes performance and attendance management, supporting staff wellbeing, and enabling individual development plans through coaching, training and continuous professional development. You will support the team through organisational change aligned to the RPA 5‑year strategy and work collaboratively with colleagues nationally to maximise resources and delivery outcomes.
The role has a strong focus on Health & Safety, Quality Assurance and customer experience. You will ensure scheme compliance, manage complaints and appeals, escalate business and fraud risks, and act as a key point of contact with policy teams, auditors and external stakeholders. You will contribute to the development and delivery of training materials, guidance and accreditation activity, and support internal and external audit processes.
This is an active, hands‑on role involving regular time outdoors, including walking several miles across varied terrain and working in all weather conditions. It includes safely conducting visits alongside the team and working responsibly near livestock such as cattle, sheep and pigs. Regular travel and occasional overnight stays are required, alongside effective use of IT and specialist inspection systems.
Responsibilities
Provide leadership and line management for Field Officers and Field Advisory Officers
Ensure quality standards are consistently met across all visits and checks carried out by the team
Manage the delivery of all fieldwork, ensuring agreed deadlines and national standards are achieved
Contribute as a member of delivery groups to support the development and delivery of training, guidance and instructions
Promote consistency and best practice across teams in line with national requirements
Liaise and collaborate with RAS policy teams and internal and external stakeholders to support new schemes, pilots and emerging projects
Undertake regular outdoor activity, including walking several miles daily across a range of terrain and in varying weather conditions
Cover a geographical area across three counties as listed in the job summary, and where required, work outside your area to support colleagues across other regional areas
Travel regularly as part of the role, which may include visits or meetings outside your local area and occasional overnight stays
Work flexibly, including early starts or late finishes, to meet operational needs and customer requirements
Work as part of a multi‑skilled team, which may include visits to food premises or meat processing plants
Following successful completion of probation, become eligible to apply for the RPA lease car scheme
Provide support for internal audits and external assurance activity, including National Audit Office (NAO) and GIAA audits
