The Eastern High School cluster are seeking to appoint 3 permanent School Attendance Officers, to start in September 2026. Willowbrook Primary School will be the host school and will line manage each School Attendance Officer. However, you will work with several primary schools across the cluster.
We are seeking dedicated professionals to improve pupil attendance and foster positive relationships with families. This is a unique and rewarding role where you can make a real difference to the wellbeing and learning of children.
The key areas of responsibility will be to:
• Identify and monitor pupils and families who require support in improving attendance and punctuality
• Implement strategies to improve attendance and punctuality
• Support and liaise with families and advise on their statutory responsibilities in relation to school attendance
The ideal candidate will:
• Be self-motivated and have high expectations of themselves
• Have excellent communication skills
• Have good digital skills, preferably with experience of Arbor
• Have a positive attitude to working with vulnerable families
• Have good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, and manage your own workload
• A willingness to learn and develop
Excellent support and professional learning will be provided to the appointed candidates. Successful candidates will be provided with a laptop and mobile phone in order to carry out their roles effectively.
Under the Education (Wales) Act 2014, all School Learning Support Workers must be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
