What skills and experience we're looking for
The Governors of St Martin de Porres Catholic Primary School are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our wonderful school community.
We are seeking a practitioner who:
• understands and respects the Catholic ethos of our school
• is innovative, dynamic and able to challenge and inspire our children
• has high expectations for all pupils and themselves
• can contribute to the life of the school and its community
• relishes working as part of a strong team
Our recent Ofsted in January 2026 echoed some of the wonderful things that our school offers:
• “Pupils show respect for each other and for all people beyond the school walls.”
• “Parents and carers describe a welcoming, caring school where their children feel safe, known and supported.”
• “The school is very well regarded in the local community.”
• “Leaders attend closely to staff wellbeing. Practical measures, such as shared pastoral support, help staff to sustain high standards while managing workload.”
• “Staff speak of a cohesive, values led culture that nurtures teamwork and practical collaboration.”
• “Leaders invest in effective staff professional development through in house training, external programmes and visits to other schools.”
The successful applicant must be sympathetic to the Catholic ethos of the school and will be required to sign the Catholic Education Service contract. This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
