Job Description The Healthcare Assistant (Band 3) will work as an experienced and integral member of the Childrens Services team, supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and familycentred care to children and young people within inpatient and outpatient settings. The post holder will undertake a range of delegated clinical and nonclinical duties with increased autonomy, following appropriate training, competency assessment, and Trust policies. This includes performing enhanced clinical skills, supporting patient admissions and discharges, requesting investigations, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation. The role also involves acting as a role model and providing daytoday support and guidance to junior Healthcare Assistants. The Healthcare Assistant will work closely with the registered nursing and medical teams to ensure high standards of care, patient safety, and positive experiences for children and their families. Flexibility to work across clinical areas and unsocial hours is required. Main Responsibilities Deliver highquality, compassionate, and individualised care to children and young people under the direction of registered practitioners Undertake delegated clinical duties independently within scope of practice and competency, following Trust policies and procedures Perform enhanced clinical skills including Paediatric Early Warning Scores (PEWS), ECG recording, venepuncture, and cannulation, following appropriate training and assessment Observe, monitor, and accurately report changes in a childs condition, escalating concerns promptly to the Nurse in Charge or medical team Support patient flow by completing admission and discharge processes and requesting blood tests and investigations via electronic systems Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant clinical documentation to support safe and effective care Act as a role model for Band 2 Healthcare Assistants, providing informal supervision, guidance, and support on shift Prepare, maintain, and monitor clinical environments and equipment to ensure safety and suitability for children and families Support and reassure parents and carers, providing ageappropriate information and promoting familycentred care Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding children, infection prevention and control, dignity, confidentiality, and equality Work flexibly across ward and outpatient areas, including supporting clinics, as service needs require
