Job overview Mayfield Medical Centre is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner (APNP) to join our friendly and forward-thinking primary care team on a permanent part-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to children and young people within a busy GP practice setting. The successful candidate will work autonomously while collaborating closely with GPs, nurses, and the wider multidisciplinary team to assess, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic conditions in paediatric patients. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of integrated, proactive, and community-based healthcare services while supporting innovation within primary care. Main duties of the job The Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner will provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for children and young people presenting with a wide range of conditions within primary care. Key responsibilities include: Managing same-day and urgent paediatric presentations Independently prescribing medication where qualified and appropriate Delivering evidence-based care and safe clinical decision-making Undertaking health promotion, preventative care, and safeguarding activities Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous clinical records Working collaboratively with GPs, health visitors, community services, and the wider multidisciplinary team Identifying and escalating safeguarding concerns in line with local and national policies Participating in audit, quality improvement, and service development activities The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills alongside strong advanced clinical reasoning and decision-making abilities
