Summary

An opportunity to join a well-established commercial broking team operating across the SME to mid-corporate space, managing a portfolio of multi-line commercial risks typically ranging between £30k–£50k GWP.

This role sits within a specialist team focused on delivering structured, market-facing solutions across a varied book, with particular exposure to marine cargo, freight liability and associated sectors, alongside core commercial lines including property, excess layers, fleet and motor trade.

The position is predominantly renewal-focused, with responsibility for circa 30 cases per month. The remit combines technical handling with active market engagement – negotiating terms, structuring placements and ensuring strong underwriting outcomes across both in-house facilities and external insurer markets.

The role operates on an approximate 80/20 split, with the majority centred on core brokingactivity (renewals, MTAs and placement negotiation), complemented by a broader technical contribution. This includes supporting referral activity, enhancing product understanding and contributing to overall team capability and consistency.

You will engage with a panel of established insurer relationships, including composite and specialist markets, where interaction is driven by case requirements and placement strategy.

Key responsibilities:

- Ownership of renewal cases across a diverse commercial portfolio
- Negotiation of terms with insurers and effective placement of risk
- Management of mid-term adjustments and ongoing servicing requirements
- Contribution to referral support and technical development within the team

Candidate profile:

- Proven experience within commercial broking or placement
- Strong understanding of SME to mid-corporate risks and market dynamics
- Commercially minded, with the ability to negotiate and structure deals effectively
- Technically capable, with an interest in developing broader product and market expertise

The selection process is assessment-led, incorporating scenario-based and technical evaluation to reflect the nature of the role.

Overall, this represents a strong opportunity for an experienced broker or technically capable account handler seeking to deepen their market exposure and technical capability within a structured, mid-market environment.
