Location: Walderslade Clinic, Chatham, Kent Salary: £20,250 – £24,750 per annum (£45k–£55k FTE) Hours: 18 hours per week (Flexible, typically 3 days/6 hours) Contract: 1-year fixed term

The Opportunity:
Join the RSPCA Medway West Branch and be at the forefront of animal welfare. This role offers a unique opportunity to practice shelter medicine, providing life-changing care to neglected, abused, or abandoned animals, as well as pets from low-income households. You will enjoy clinical freedom in a supportive, close-knit team dedicated to rescue and rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership: Lead the clinical care team (RVNs and support staff) and manage the final setup of the drug room, pharmacy, and Consultation rooms.

Welfare-Driven Medicine: Conduct health assessments for new intakes and make complex ethical decisions regarding quality of life and "Tiered Care".

Compliance: Maintain strict standards in line with RCVS, VMD, and the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

RequirementsQualifications: Must be a fully qualified Veterinary Surgeon and registered MRCVS.

Experience: Proven post-qualification experience in small animal practice; ability to handle a busy caseload and work sole-charge when required. Skills: Strong surgical skills (especially neutering and dentistry) and compassionate communication skills.

Mindset: Mission-driven, resilient, and proactive with a deep passion for animal welfare.

Preferred: 2+ years of UK clinical experience or a background in shelter medicine/charity work is desirable.
