Main Duties
To assist in the smooth running of the home
Responsible to the Manager/Deputy Manager
1. To ensure that working practices provide the best possible level of care in respect of the Service
Users.
2. To provide care and support to Service Users. To perform any designated tasks involving direct
care.
3. To ensure Service Users are comfortable and contented both physically and mentally.
4. To assist and support Service Users and to enable them to live their lives as self-caring as is
possible.
5. To ensure Service Users, their families’ and friends are treated with courtesy and respect.
6. To ensure that the staff under your supervision treat the Service Users’, their families’ and friends
with courtesy and respect.
7. To assist with the admission of new Service Users to the home.
8. To familiarise yourself with the contents of the Records and Procedures file held in staff office.
9. To maintain accurate systems of recording.
10. To note and report changes in Service Users’ condition or circumstances.
11. To assist with the care of the sick and dying Service User.
12. To ensure that you understand your duties and seek clarification if necessary.
13. To ensure that all the staff under your supervision understand their duties.
14. To ensure that the Daily Activities Schedule is implemented and correctly recorded.
15. To work whatever shifts are required to ensure minimum staffing levels, including night shifts
and/or sleepers if necessary.
16. To always maintain confidentiality in respect of the Service Users and of ‘Glanmorfa’.
17. To maintain confidentiality in respect of staff and to never discuss individual staff members
behaviour or personal affairs with any other individual including other members of staff.
18. To report and record accidents and or injury or near misses.
19. To be aware of the safety, security and smooth running of ‘Glanmorfa’.
20. To check and report any problems or malfunctions in the equipment or fabric of the building.
21. To be aware of the procedures to take should an emergency arise.
22. To prepare meals when necessary, e.g. when the designated cook is not available.
23. To prepare and distribute suppers.
24. To ensure that the manager is informed of any complaints or issues risen.
25. To always comply with the Health and Safety Regulations and to take all necessary precautions
to avoid accidents or injury to self, staff, Service Users and visitors.
26. To comply with Glanmorfa’s strictly no lifting policy and adhere to the homes manual handling
procedures.
27. To ensure that all staff under your supervision are also aware of, and comply with, Health and
Safety Regulations and manual handling policy and procedures.
28. To encourage good relations between staff members and to promote teamwork and to oppose
and control unnecessary unpleasantness.
29. To attend staff meetings as required and to make an input into procedure development. Ensure
that all required reports are produced and delivered on time.
30. To perform light cleaning duties.
31. To give out all medication in accordance with all medication training.
32. To undertake any other reasonable duty that may be asked by management relating to the care
of the Service User and the smooth running of the home.
33. To conduct themselves in a professional manner, to maintain confidentiality, be loyal to and
uphold the good name of the home.
