Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by domestic abuse? We are
seeking an enthusiastic Independent Domestic Violence Adviser (IDVA) to join our vibrant team on a 12-month fixed term
contract. This dynamic role will blend providing trauma-informed support to victims of domestic abuse and the delivery of
high-quality training to local professionals across statutory and voluntary sectors.
As an IDVA, you will be playing a key part in helping create safer communities through raising awareness, and equipping others
with the knowledge and skills to recognise and respond to domestic abuse. You will work collaboratively with clients, partners,
and agencies to develop safety plans and empower individuals to regain control of their lives. This is a unique opportunity to be
part of specialist team committed to providing survivor centred support in collaboration with multi-agency partners as part of the
local coordinated response to domestic abuse.
Working Pattern:
This is an outreach-based role which involves community working and home visits across the North West. During induction, the
successful candidate will be fully office-based to support training and onboarding. Following successful completion of probation,
the role will move to a hybrid working arrangement. During probation, the working pattern will typically consist of 3 days
office/community based and 1-2 day working from home, with increased flexibility thereafter. Due to the nature of the role and
travel required across the North West, candidates will ideally need to be able to drive and travel to various locations and sites.
What You Will Be Doing:
* Conducting MERIT risk assessments to identify the level of risk and needs of clients and their families.
* Providing specialist support to victims of domestic abuse, ensured a trauma-informed and survivor centred approach
* Deliver training sessions, workshops and briefings to local professionals and survivors of domestic abuse.
* Providing practical and emotional support, including advice on safety planning, risk management, legal options, housing,
health, and finances.
* Offering guidance and best practise advice to internal and external stakeholders.
* Representing the voice of victims at the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC)
* Partnering with external agencies to deliver effective safety and support plans.
* Maintaining accurate records and case management systems.
* Advocating for clients and raising awareness of domestic abuse and its impact on families.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience of working with individuals and families affected by domestic abuse or complex needs
* Experience managing a caseload and developing risk assessments and support/safety plans
* Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures
* Confident communicator with the ability to manage sensitive and challenging conversations
* Ability to build effective relationships with clients, colleagues, and partner agencies
* Experience using case management systems and maintaining accurate records
* Resilient, with the ability to manage emotional demands and maintain professional boundaries
* Understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred approaches
* Knowledge of domestic abuse legislation and relevant support services (desirable)
* Commitment to empowering survivors and promoting safety and independence
Interview Process:
* Interviews will take place week commencing 22nd June at our St Helens office and will involve a competency-based interview and
a task, which will be provided on the day.
