⏰ 37 Hours per week Weekend and evening working may be required when business needs demand

Salary Range £49,878.00 - £56,202.00 per annum per annum

Aims and Purpose of the Post

1.1 To lead and promote a positive culture of Health & Safety.
1.2 To lead on providing Health & Safety support and advice for the College.
1.3 To work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure that practices and procedures comply with current legislation and College policies.
1.4 Provide business continuity and emergency planning support and advice to the business.
1.5 Providing occupational health support and advice for the college.

1.6 Provide Health and Safety training across the College.

Specific Responsibilities

1.7 Implementation and promotion of a positive culture of Health & Safety across the college.
1.8 To proactively raise awareness of Health & Safety across the College and to promote safe working practices at all times.
1.9 To monitor all reported incidents and accidents, complete investigations as required, ensuring all reporting requirements have been completed and action is taken if appropriate.
1.10 To ensure that the College Accident computer based recording system is maintained and reports are generated.
1.11 To ensure a proactive approach to and compliance with health and safety legislation.
1.12 To liaise with and cooperate with the college insurers.
1.13 To liaise with external agencies such as HSE, Fire Authority, Environment Agency and Environmental Health.
1.14 The identification of improvements in matters of Health & Safety and to make the appropriate recommendations.
1.15 To carry out regular safety audits and inspections and implement changes to deliver improvements as required.
1.16 To lead on activities to test and improve our business continuity and emergency planning provisions.
1.17 To arrange and support the College Health & Safety Committee meetings and champions forum.
1.18 To collect and collate Health & Safety information from across the College to assist with the formulation of reports and statistical information.
1.19 To provide regular reports to ELT, Corporation Board and sub committees on H&S compliance, culture and initiatives.
1.20 To facilitate and/or deliver health and safety training to college staff including induction, annual refresher training and specific training in the form of tool box talks.

1.21 To manage and organise in conjunction with HR, training to ensure compliance with legislation such as First Aid and Fire Warden training.
1.22 To promote and adhere to the College’s Safeguarding Policies and Procedures.

1.23 To promote and adhere to the College’s Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.

1.24 To manage student conduct in accordance with College policies.
1.25 Promote the welfare of young people and vulnerable groups in all aspects of College life and to ensure safeguarding arrangements are adhered to at all times.

1.26 The active promotion of and commitment to best practice in equity, diversity & inclusion.

1.27 Contribute and demonstrate fully and at all times the positive promotion and role modelling of the College core values, generic competencies and professional behaviours expected of all staff employed by College.

1.28 Undertake any other duties as required by the Principal and as may be reasonably expected commensurate with the post. This may include either the temporary or permanent re-deployment to an equivalent grade of post within the organisation.
