Summary
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by the Practice Nurse may include some or all of the following: Clinical Duties Deliver evidence-based nursing care to patients within the practice setting Undertake general treatment room duties including: Wound care and dressings Blood pressure monitoring Venepuncture ECGs Health checks Chronic Disease Management Support the management of patients with long-term conditions including: Diabetes Asthma COPD Hypertension Cardiovascular disease Undertake annual reviews in line with practice protocols and QOF requirements Immunisations and Screening Administer routine vaccinations and immunisations in accordance with national guidance Undertake cervical cytology screening Promote uptake of national screening programmes Health Promotion Provide lifestyle advice and health education to patients Support smoking cessation, weight management, and healthy living initiatives Promote patient self-management and preventative healthcare Clinical Administration Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records Ensure clinical coding is completed accurately where appropriate Participate in audit and quality improvement activities Infection Prevention and Control Maintain infection control standards within clinical areas Ensure appropriate use, storage, and disposal of clinical equipment and waste Team Working Work collaboratively with GPs, nursing staff, administrative staff, PCN colleagues, and external healthcare professionals Participate in practice meetings and training sessions Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment
