SEN Teacher - Step Out of the Mainstream!
-
Salary: M1 to M6 (Scale dependent)
-
Position: Permanent, Full-Time (40 Hours)
-
Location: Alternative Provision City Hub, Nottingham
-
Key Focus: Small-group intervention, Curriculum Autonomy, Workload Balance
Are you an experienced or high-achieving teacher feeling stifled by endless data-tracking, rigid box-ticking exercises, and oversized classrooms?
An established Alternative Provision City Hub in Nottingham is offering a refreshing alternative. We are seeking a strategic, resilient, and highly skilled SEN Teacher who wants to strip away the mainstream noise and get back to what actually matters: high-impact teaching and measurable student progress.
The Opportunity: Autonomy over AutomationIn this role, you won't be managing a crowd of 30 students. Instead, you will take academic and operational ownership of micro-groups, allowing you to deploy creative, bespoke learning strategies that yield immediate, visible results.
-
Class Sizes of 3-6 Learners: Say goodbye to crowd control. Focus 100% of your energy on high-quality, targeted teaching.
-
Streamlined Workload: Benefit from manageable, realistic planning and marking expectations designed around teacher wellbeing and student impact, not administrative compliance.
-
Robust Support Architecture: Work alongside dedicated Teaching Assistants allocated for targeted 1:1 intervention and group support under your strategic direction.
-
Specialist Focus: While delivering a holistic curriculum, a strong background or interest in KS3/KS4 Maths and Functional Skills will give you a major advantage.
-
Targeted Progression: Establish baseline assessments to set and track ambitious, highly personalised academic and personal targets.
-
Restorative Practice: Utilise sophisticated, relational, and restorative behavioural strategies to re-engage students who have disconnected from mainstream education.
-
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with internal specialists, external agencies, and families to design robust reintegration and next-step pathways for learners.
-
Safe Practice: Maintain an environment built on exemplary safeguarding standards.
We welcome applicants from mainstream schools, SEN environments, or FE colleges. The right mindset and adaptability are our top priorities.
-
Credentials: QTS, PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification.
-
Subject Capability: Strong ability to deliver a specialist subject (Maths preferred) alongside wider curriculum areas.
-
Approach: A reflective practitioner who favours solutions over complaints and thrives on creative problem-solving.
-
Logistics: A valid driving license is required for this role.
Workload Reset: Trade exhaustive administrative demands for a role that respects your time and prioritise your professional wellbeing. True Professional Autonomy: Design and adapt your lessons dynamically without rigid institutional constraints. Direct Impact: See the immediate, rewarding result of your expertise on students who genuinely need a fresh start.
