We're recruiting 2-3 Mechanical Fitters for a well-established engineering business within the rail sector. Due to continued growth and increased workload, they're looking to strengthen their skilled team.

The role

This is a practical, hands-on position working on a variety of mechanical systems and components, primarily rail-related. The role is mainly workshop-based with occasional site work.

Key responsibilities:

  • Installation, assembly and alignment of mechanical components and equipment
  • Maintenance and repair of rail systems, including work on damaged rolling stock
  • Fault finding and completing corrective repairs
  • Working with pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, valves and rotating equipment
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Completing job reports and maintenance records accurately
  • Working to health & safety procedures at all times

Travel: Occasional travel may be required. When working away, accommodation is provided, along with a £25 per night allowance and access to a company vehicle.

Requirements (essential)
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Fitting
  • Experience in an industrial, manufacturing or heavy engineering environment
  • Strong mechanical knowledge, including hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Ability to read and work from technical drawings
