Trainee Advanced Critical Care Practitioner

Band 7 - Full time (37.5hours/week) - Fixed term: 24 months

In this advanced role, the post holder will provide expert clinical management and care to patients requiring levels 1-3 care in Critical care in a role traditionally performed by medical staff.

The post holder will work clinically within Critical Care, in a supernumerary training capacity for 2 years, alongside a bespoke Post Graduate MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice and Independent Prescribing.

The post holder will carry out practical assessments within the workplace and theoretical work with the University.

As part of the training programme the post holder will be released for study days / placements required to successfully complete the programme.

Role Definition

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced clinician to join our Critical Care team as a Trainee Advanced Critical Care Practitioner (tACCP). During a formal two-year training period, the post holder will balance clinical duties with the successful completion of an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice, including Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP).

Operating under the supervision of a Medical Lead and ACCP Mentor, the trainee will develop the skills to undertake comprehensive clinical assessments, perform invasive interventions, and initiate complex treatment plans. The role bridges the gap between traditional professional boundaries, contributing to the medical tier and providing expert, evidence-based care to the critically ill while fulfilling the requirements of the FICM ACCP Curriculum.
