Job Purpose:We are seeking a caring, dependable, and motivated Personal Assistant to support a gentleman with Down syndrome who also experiences bouts of gout. The role involves supporting him within his home and out in the community, helping him enjoy the activities he loves, and assisting with aspects of daily living.
He enjoys colouring, spending time in the garden, cooking, walks, and watching TV - particularly westerns, wrestling, soaps, and Bargain Hunt. He also plays Petanque (boules) with his local team and would like someone who can take him to watch and play. The role will include meal preparation, supporting him with activities, accompanying him to social and leisure events, and assisting him to get to the bathroom. He has some communication difficulties, so patience and a willingness to learn are key.

- Rate of pay: £13.50 per hour.
- Hours and days of work: 16 hours per week
- 8 hours per week on a Wednesday - 7:15am - 3:15pm
- 8 hours per week on a Thursday - 7:15am - 3:15pm
- Holiday entitlement: Equivalent to 5.6 weeks per year, calculated based on annual hours worked.
- Training: Free training for all staff via Atlas.
- Annual training required if the role includes any of the following: manual handling, handling hazardous chemicals (e.g., household cleaning products), food handling, handling medication.
- A satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check (paid for by the employer)
- Satisfactory references from two referees (one must be your current or most recent employer)
- Successful completion of a 6‑month probationary period
