Summary

Can you unlock potential and change a young person’s future?

At De Aston School, we know that behind every set of grades is a young person with potential waiting to be realised. We are looking for an inspiring Academic Intervention Manager who is driven to ensure no student is left behind.

This is more than a role about academic success — it is about removing barriers, rebuilding confidence, and helping students believe in themselves again. You will lead our Academic Intervention Team, working directly with students and families to tackle underachievement and help every learner succeed.

If you are motivated by seeing students turn a corner, develop resilience, and achieve what they once thought was out of reach, this is the role for you.

Duties

In this role, you will be at the centre of driving academic success by:

Leading, developing and managing a dedicated Academic Intervention Team to deliver targeted support.
Identifying students at risk of underachievement and designing personalised intervention strategies to accelerate progress.
Delivering and overseeing mentoring, study skills support, and structured intervention programmes for individuals and small groups.
Acting as a key link between students, families and staff, ensuring a joined-up approach to improving outcomes.
Monitoring progress, analysing impact and adapting strategies to ensure interventions make a real difference.
Leading initiatives such as homework support to build strong learning habits and independence.
Working with colleagues across the school and external agencies to provide holistic, effective support.

Skills

We are looking for someone who is:

Relentlessly committed to student success, with a passion for raising achievement and breaking down barriers.
A confident leader and motivator, able to inspire both students and colleagues.
Highly organised and proactive, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced school environment.
A skilled communicator, with the ability to build trust and strong relationships with students, families and staff.
Calm, resilient and solution-focused, with the ability to adapt and respond to challenges effectively.
Experienced in working with young people and understanding the challenges they may face in their learning.
Educated to Level 3 (A Levels or equivalent), with strong ICT and organisational skills.
