A Vacancy at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a substantive consultant role within the Croydon Recovery & Rehabilitation Team within South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. The service provides intensive community-based rehabilitation, care and support for people, aged 18-65 years (and aged over 65 if they have been treated by a Croydon Adult Mental Health Service). Patients have severe and enduring mental illnesses and should be living in the London Borough of Croydon in a 24-hour supported placement such as Supported Housing, Supported Living, Residential Care Home or Nursing Home. It is a part-time role with 5 programmed activities:
3.5 Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 1.5 Supporting Programmed Activities (SPA) sessions (increasing to 2 SPAs for an academic affiliate program).

In collaboration with senior colleagues, the post-holder is expected to provide clinical, operational and strategic leadership to R & R. As part of the leadership team, the post-holder is expected to work proactively with managers and clinical staff to ensure that a high-quality service is provided to all patients.

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) provides the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK and aim to be a leader in improving health and wellbeing: locally, nationally and globally.

Weserve 1.3 million people across four South London Boroughs: Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark. We also work closely with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King’s College London (KCL), and are supported by the Maudsley Charity which can be traced back to 1247.

We provide over 50 specialist services for children and adults across the UK, including perinatal, eating disorders, psychosis, autism and addiction services. We also have a number of partnerships with clinical services and educational programmes in Europe, the Middle East and China.

We are the only mental health trust in the UK to have our own Biomedical ResearchCentre (BRC), hosted jointly with the IoPPN, with the aim of translating scientific developments into new ways of screening, detecting, treating and preventing mental illness.

We are also part of the King’s Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (one of six such centres in England), along with King’s College London, Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts.
