Dark web

A ‘hidden’ part of the internet that can’t be accessed through standard web browsers or search engines. People may need special specific software or authorisation to visit it.

While some people may use the dark web for privacy, criminals also use it to buy and sell illegal items, share harmful content and communicate secretly. This is challenging for the police and other law enforcement agencies to monitor and investigate, as users’ identity and location may be hidden.
