Dip sampling
Evaluating a random sample of materials to assess them. Often used for quality assurance and to check compliance.
In the context of our inspections, we use this process to try to determine whether a force or service is following correct procedures and taking an appropriate and proportionate approach. For example, a dip sample of police custody records can help us to quality assure custody services. We analyse the sample records to check if the standard and quality of recording is sufficient.
