Summary

Our client, an established and well-regarded law firm based in York, is looking to recruit an experienced Family Solicitor / Head of Department to lead and further develop its Family team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior Family Solicitor who is confident managing complex matters, supervising others and playing a key role in the continued growth of the department.

The role is full time with hybrid working available.

The Role

You will manage a varied caseload of complex family matters, including:

- Divorce and separation
- Financial remedy matters
- Private children work
- Cohabitation disputes
- Pre- and post-nuptial agreements
- Wider private family law matters

Alongside your own caseload, you will supervise and manage the Family team, providing technical support, guidance and mentoring to more junior colleagues.

You will also be involved in developing the department, maintaining strong client relationships and helping to drive the continued success of the team.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

- A minimum of 5 years’ PQE in Family law
- Strong experience handling a broad range of private family matters
- Confidence managing complex divorce, financial and children work
- Previous supervisory, mentoring or management experience
- Excellent client care and communication skills
- A practical, commercially aware and empathetic approach
- The ability to build relationships and contribute to business development
- A genuine interest in leading and developing a successful team
