Summary
Job Purpose
To carry out high-quality electrical installation work on commercial, industrial, or residential projects, including both 1st and 2nd fix electrical works, ensuring compliance with current regulations, drawings, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
1st Fix Duties
Installation of containment systems including:
Tray
Basket
Trunking
Conduit (metal & PVC)
Cable ladder
Running and dressing cables
Installation of back boxes and mounting systems
Wiring of lighting and power circuits
Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics
Working from site plans and specifications
Ensuring installations are completed to programme deadlines
2nd Fix Duties
Installation and connection of:
Sockets
Switches
Lighting fittings
Distribution boards
Fire alarm devices
Emergency lighting
Testing and fault finding on completed installations
Final termination and commissioning
Ensuring systems are operational and compliant
Snagging and rectification works
General Responsibilities
Work in accordance with BS 7671 Wiring Regulations
Maintain high standards of health & safety on site
Use tools and equipment safely and correctly
Liaise with supervisors, contractors, and other trades
Complete required documentation and reports
Maintain clean and organised work areas
Support apprentices and junior electricians when required
Essential Requirements
NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
ECS Gold Card – Approved Electrician
18th Edition Wiring Regulations
Proven experience in 1st & 2nd fix electrical installation
Ability to read technical drawings
Strong fault-finding skills
Desirable Qualifications
EL1 or EL2 Clearance
IPAF
Experience in commercial or industrial projects
