An opportunity has arisen for an interesting and varied Administrative Assistant position within the Cellular Pathology Department at York Hospital.

The post holder will provide a range of administrative support. The successful candidate will have effective administrative and computer skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook/Teams.

The successful candidate will be required to have good organisational skills. You will also need to have excellent communication skills as you will be required to liaise with a wide range of professionals and service users. You must be effective at prioritising workloads, with a proven ability to work independently, use your own initiative, and apply sound analytical thinking to support administrative processes.

The successful candidate will possess GCSE English Language, Grade 4 or above, or equivalent. Previous clerical/administrative experience is essential, preferably in a healthcare or customer-based setting.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who can work effectively using their own initiative, as well as being part of a team. They must be a proficient audio typist with the ability to transcribe complex digital dictation and provide daily administration service support within Cellular Pathology.

The role will include but not be limited to:
• Timely printing, sorting and mailing of patient reports.
• Scanning and filing of documents and request forms.
• Audio typing of macroscopic and microscopic details into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) in an accurate and timely manner.
• Dealing with telephone and email enquiries from users including clinicians and other staff in a clear and effective manner.
• General office duties, such as photocopying, filing and dealing with internal/external post.
• Producing documents as required utilising advanced word processing and keyboard skills.
• Supporting the Cellular Pathology Medical Secretaries with general administrative tasks as required.
