We’re looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join us as a Tree Officer as part of our Grounds Maintenance team.
This is a key role responsible for delivering high-quality, cost-effective, and customer-focused arboricultural services across the Karbon footprint. You will manage tree assets, ensure compliance with legal and statutory requirements, and provide professional advice to both internal teams and external customers.
About The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Tree Officer to join our Grounds Maintenance team within Property Services.
You will carry out tree inspections, manage works programs, oversee contractors, and contribute to the ongoing development of our tree management strategy, helping us maintain safe, sustainable, and thriving green spaces.
About You
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical arboricultural knowledge with a customer-focused approach. You will bring:
- A Level 4 qualification in Arboriculture (or equivalent)
- LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection (PTI) (or equivalent)
- Proven experience managing tree assets and undertaking inspections, surveys, and risk assessments
- Strong understanding of arboriculture best practice, legislation, and standards (including BS3998 & BS5837)
- Experience using tree management systems and GIS-based platforms
- Ability to manage contractors and monitor performance against KPIs
- Experience responding to customer enquiries and working with stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical matters clearly
- A proactive, resilient approach with strong decision-making skills
You must be dynamic, with a collaborative and engaging style, and possess strong customer service, people management and organisational skills. They should be highly organised, capable of working to tight deadlines, achieving KPIs and targets in accordance with budget constraints.
A full UK driving licence is essential.

The permanent vacancy is within our Grounds Maintenance Team – You’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive Grounds Maintenance team, working closely with colleagues across Property Services and wider departments. - Location: Based in Derwentside working across the Karbon footprint
- 37 Hours per week 0700 – 1500 Monday – Thursday. 0700 – 1430 Friday
- Karbon car payment of £2,405 per annum (own car to be used)
