Summary

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Full-Time

Primary School - Knowsley, Merseyside

Contract: Full-time, term-time (Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 15:30)
Start Date: September 2026
Daily Rate: £100-£140 per day (dependent on experience and paid to scale)

A vibrant and welcoming primary school in the Crosby area is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their supportive team from September 2026. This is a full-time role supporting pupils across Key Stages, with responsibilities including classroom support, intervention delivery, and covering lessons when required.

The school is known for its inclusive ethos, supportive leadership, and strong community links. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate HLTA to make a real difference in pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support teaching and learning across the curriculum in line with school policies and planning
- Deliver targeted interventions and small-group support to raise attainment and confidence
- Provide whole class cover during teacher absence or PPA time where required
- Adapt learning activities to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities, including SEND and EAL learners
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes engagement and wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents/carers to support pupil development
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and school events

What We're Looking For:
- HLTA status or equivalent relevant qualification/experience
- Previous experience supporting teaching and learning within a primary or secondary school setting
- Strong understanding of the national curriculum and effective classroom support strategies
- Confidence leading groups and covering lessons independently when required
- Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
- A positive, flexible, and proactive attitude
- Commitment to supporting all pupils to achieve their full potential

Desirable:
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, or EAL needs
- Knowledge of intervention programmes and formative assessment strategies
- Experience working across multiple key stages
- First Aid or safeguarding training
