Trainee Manager with clear pathway to Registered Manager
Elwood Recruitment are working in partnership with an emerging children’s residential care provider to recruit an experienced level 3 qualified senior or strong deputy Manager with clear aspirations to achieve registration for their own service.
Currently the organisation operates with one existing residential service for children and young people and the successful candidate would shadow this manager for up to 6 months in their service whilst completing a very robust management development plan before registering and opening their new service which is already commissioned and ready to launch. During the traineeship period you will begin to prepare Ofsted application, receive mentoring and leadership support, support both services operationally during the transitional period, service development and quality assurance, develop confidence within all aspects of residential leadership and management.
This is a rare opportunity to be the first Registered Manager of a service with a clear pathway to develop into this role over a staged period, giving the successful candidate real autonomy to shape the culture, standards, and operational approach from day one, ahead of its first Ofsted registration which is a very exciting aspect of this role.
The Role
As trainee manager, you will have full responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and regulatory compliance of the home, ensuring high-quality, child-centred care and positive outcomes for young people.
Key responsibilities include:
• Recruit and develop your own staff team
• Shape the culture and identity of the home
• Prepare the service for registration and opening
• Embed therapeutic and trauma-informed practice from the outset
• Develop systems, routines, and leadership structures
• Build a home environment aligned with our values
About You
• Ambitious and ready to progress into senior leadership
• Passionate about improving outcomes for children
• Committed to therapeutic, trauma-informed care
• Emotionally intelligent and reflective
• Able to inspire and support others
• Motivated to develop a positive and nurturing culture
• Ready to take ownership of a future Registered Manager role
Essential Requirements
• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
• Experience within children’s residential care
• Understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed practice
• Willingness to complete or currently working toward Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification
• Full UK driving licence
Why Apply?
This role is ideal for a current or aspiring manager who wants more than just “running a service” - it offers the chance to build something meaningful, influence the long-term direction of the organisation, and progress into senior or operational roles as the provider expands.
Elwood Recruitment is an equal opportunities employer. All appointments are subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check and references.
