About Lumen Way Homes
Lumen Way Homes CIC is a Community Interest Company opening a brand-new children's residential home in rural West Northamptonshire. We will provide specialist care for up to five young people aged 7–17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those who have experienced multiple placement breakdowns, trauma, and disrupted attachments.

Our care model is trauma-informed, attachment-aware, and therapeutically driven. We use PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy), Dyadic Developmental Practice, and co-regulation approaches within an integrated therapeutic pathway. Old Rectory House is a large detached property set in a peaceful rural location — an environment designed to offer stability, safety, and space for young people to heal and grow.

The Opportunity
This is a rare chance to shape a children's home from the ground up. As our founding Registered Manager, you will not be inheriting someone else's culture — you will be building it. From recruiting your own team to establishing the therapeutic environment, you will have genuine autonomy to create a home that delivers outstanding care.

You will lead the Ofsted registration process, develop and embed our policies and procedures, recruit and develop a skilled staff team, and oversee the day-to-day care of young people with complex SEMH and SEND needs. You will be the Designated Safeguarding Lead and will work closely with the Responsible Individual to ensure the home meets and exceeds the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Guide to the Quality Standards.

What You Will Do
- Lead the home through Ofsted registration and towards an Outstanding rating
- Build, lead, and develop a therapeutic staff team from scratch
- Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring robust safeguarding practice across the home
- Develop and maintain care plans, risk assessments, and placement matching processes tailored to young people with SEMH and SEND
- Create a warm, stable, and therapeutically informed environment where young people feel safe and valued
- Manage referrals, admissions, and placement stability
- Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, including Regulation 44 and 45 requirements
- Oversee staff supervision, appraisal, and training, embedding trauma-informed practice throughout the team
- Build strong relationships with placing authorities, social workers, education providers, CAMHS, and the West Northamptonshire Safeguarding Children Partnership
- Manage the home's budget and resources effectively
- Contribute to the ongoing development of policies, the therapeutic model, and the organisation's growth

What We Are Looking For
Essential:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Minimum two years' experience in a senior role within a children's residential setting (deputy manager or above)
- Demonstrable experience of working with young people with SEMH and/or SEND needs
- Strong understanding of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards
- Experience of safeguarding practice and acting as or supporting a Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches
- Experience of staff recruitment, supervision, and development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Full UK driving licence

Desirable:
- Experience of opening or registering a new children's home with Ofsted
- Training in PACE, DDP, or therapeutic parenting models
- Experience with SEMH/SEND-specific therapeutic frameworks
- Understanding of EHCPs and working with education providers for young people with SEND
- Experience of multi-agency working with CAMHS, social care, and education

What We Offer
- A salary of £70,000 reflecting the significance and scope of this role
- The autonomy to build a home and team from day one — your vision, your culture
- A beautiful rural setting with space for young people and staff to thrive
- A supportive Responsible Individual committed to high-quality, ethical care
- Ongoing professional development and clinical consultation
- The opportunity to be part of a growing organisation with a clear social purpose
