For questions about this job, contact: Brooke Bentley Emergency Department Supervisor brooke.bentley@nhs.net 01133920855 What you will bring to the role A strong candidate should bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as the role involves interacting with patients, relatives, hospital staff and other visitors in a professional, calm and compassionate manner. Being able to listen carefully, provide clear information and remain approachable is especially important in a busy Emergency Department environment. The candidate should also bring strong organisational and administrative abilities, including attention to detail when registering patients, arranging appointments and maintaining accurate records. Good computer literacy and confidence using administration systems are valuable, particularly when working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines. Teamwork is another essential quality. The successful candidate should be able to work closely with medical, nursing and administrative colleagues while also managing their own workload effectively. Reliability, flexibility and a willingness to work a range of shifts across both hospital sites are important due to the 24-hour nature of the service. Most importantly, the candidate should bring a caring and patient-focused attitude. Emergency Departments can be stressful for patients and families, so having empathy, professionalism and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations would make a positive contribution to the team and overall patient experience.
