Spoken safety critical communications

Excellent spoken safety critical communications (SSCC) play a vital role in ensuring the operational safety of the railway. Following a five-year review, the Rail Industry Standard for SSCC (RIS-8046-TOM) was updated in September 2019 to incorporate insights from the Communications Manual and research. Key changes include revised monitoring requirements and the addition of an appendix outlining guiding principles for effective communication.
