Part-Time Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) – West London

A well-established small animal practice in West London is seeking a Part-Time Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join its friendly and growing team. Due to continued growth and an increasing client base, an additional RVN is required to support the expanding GP caseload.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse or a newly qualified RVN looking to develop their skills within a supportive and experienced clinical environment.

The Practice

This long-standing veterinary practice has been a trusted part of the local community for decades and continues to grow in popularity. The team prides itself on delivering excellent patient care and creating a collaborative and welcoming workplace.

The practice is well-equipped and includes:

Two consult rooms
A spacious, bright theatre and preparation area
Digital and dental X-ray facilities
A dedicated colleague break area

The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced and supportive team including a part-time senior vet, associate vet, senior RVN, trainee nurses and a dedicated reception team. The practice is also expanding its clinical team with the recruitment of an additional part-time vet.

The Role – Part-Time RVN

This part-time veterinary nurse position offers a consistent 2-day working week, making it ideal for candidates seeking improved work-life balance or flexibility.

Working pattern:

Thursdays and Fridays (8-hour shifts)
1 in 3 Saturdays shared between this practice and a nearby sister practice
1 in 10 Sundays supporting the small animal hospital team
1 bank holiday per year
No on-call requirements

For candidates seeking a full-time veterinary nurse opportunity, there may be the option to combine this role with additional hours elsewhere in the region.

Key Responsibilities

The Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the practice and maintaining excellent clinical standards. Responsibilities include:

Delivering a high standard of nursing care and contributing to continuous clinical improvement
Assisting veterinary surgeons during consultations and surgical procedures
Maintaining accurate patient hospitalisation and treatment records
Supporting high standards of patient comfort, welfare and care
Preparing, cleaning, sterilising and storing equipment appropriately
Monitoring and maintaining stock levels of medications, consumables and diets
Supporting the induction and training of new team members
Providing reception support when required, including handling client enquiries in person, over the phone and via email
Supporting student nurses and VCAs as a clinical supervisor
Promoting a respectful, collaborative and positive team culture

Candidate Requirements

The practice welcomes applications from both experienced and newly qualified RVNs, with excellent support and mentorship available for those at the beginning of their veterinary nursing career.

Salary & Benefits

The salary band for this role is £32,000 – £35,000 FTE (pro rata for part-time hours), dependent on experience, with clear opportunity for development and progression.
