Summary

The Clinical Support Worker plays a key role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients within the Trauma and Orthopaedics Department at King’s Mill Hospital. Working under the supervision of Registered Nurses, the post holder supports the day-to-day care and wellbeing of patients by assisting with personal care, monitoring observations, maintaining a safe and organised ward environment, and supporting clinical and administrative tasks.

This role involves caring for patients with a wide range of trauma and orthopaedic conditions, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and safety throughout their hospital stay. Responsibilities include assisting patients with daily living activities, recording vital signs, supporting mobility and manual handling, restocking supplies, escorting patients to investigations, and maintaining accurate patient documentation.

The successful candidate will work closely within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating excellent communication skills, compassion, professionalism, and a flexible approach to shift work, including nights and weekends. The role requires the ability to respond calmly in challenging situations while maintaining high standards of patient care, confidentiality, infection control, and safeguarding practice.

This position is ideal for individuals with previous care experience who are committed to continuous learning and development and passionate about supporting patients in a busy hospital environment.

We are an award-winning NHS Foundation Trust working alongside health and social care colleagues across the county to provide acute and community healthcare services to more than 420,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood, and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

We put the patient at the heart of everything that we do and it is our aim to make sure that every patient is treated as we would want a member of our own family to be treated. At the same time, we expect our staff to be caring, kind and courteous to each other and to look out for each other. We believe that we are truly a clinically-led organisation.

We are proud that our Trust colleagues have voted us the best acute Trust to work for in the East Midlands for seven years running in the National NHS Staff Survey, while the Care Quality Commission has rated our Trust as ‘outstanding’ for care and our King’s Mill Hospital as the only ‘outstanding’ NHS-run hospital in the East Midlands.
