Expert Practice Accountable for own actions in accordance with Code of Professional Conduct and will contribute towards corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times. Lead on the co-ordination and nursing care of the Urology patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, the clinical specialist group and clinical services to ensure the effective management of this patient group. Utilise advanced health assessment skills to ensure that the optimum physical and psychological needs of the patient are met Where appropriate, initiate investigations on patients to improve access to treatment and report their findings to the appropriate clinician. Ensure that all local, national and international guidance related to the delivery of Urology services is appropriately acknowledged and considered when developing practice models Undertake appropriate continuing professional development (CPD) required to maintain NMC registration. Professional Leadership Provide expert clinical and professional advice and support to the multi-disciplinary team within UHCW NHS Trust. Provide clinical and professional leadership to support and inspire colleagues with regard to improving patient services within the speciality and actively contribute to strategic planning. Participate in patient experience activities and coordinate patient feedback into service improvement Manage constantly the changing clinical and organisation scenarios in the best interests of patients. Provide critical oversight of the Urology Service budgets, providing a cost-effective service within Surgery Group targets and UHCW financial strategy Ensure effective communication within the Urology CNS team through regular meetings to ensure compliance with Quality Standards Education and Training Share professional knowledge and expertise through formal and informal teaching using flexible methods of delivery and coordinating the specialist nursing team to deliver consistent professional training. Identify and respond to any appropriate education needs, enabling practitioners to develop clinically based competencies, thus ensuring they are effective in providing quality service provision. Promote a reflective, questioning approach to clinical practice and support the use of clinical supervision to enhance the quality of patient care. Provide inter-professional support and education within the speciality for staff of all disciplines studying at undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Maintain an extensive and contemporary knowledge of Urology conditions by participating in on-going education, research and continuing self-development, including regular reviews of performance and a high level of critical self-awareness. Facilitate others to develop and deliver appropriate strategies to meet the educational needs of patients and monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies. Direct, develop, and manage the Urology Service within allocated resources and ensure the required resources are available. Liaise with the Group director of Nursing, Clinical Lead and senior management on issues or problems related to service provision. Providing Quality Healthcare Ensure practice is research based Demonstrate continual evaluation of practice within the defined specialist area, making agreed changes where appropriate Demonstrate knowledge of the clinical trials relevant to the specialist area and where clinical trials are taking place actively contribute to their effectiveness, particularly in relation to informed consent and advocacy. Carry out audit and evaluation in order to monitor the effectiveness of current practises to improve health outcomes. Continuously assess and monitor risk in their own and others practice and challenge about wider risk factors. Contribute to speciality governance and safety agenda and lead investigations for any adverse incidents and shared learning. Evaluation and Research Undertake individual performance reviews, set objectives, review and update personal development plans and job descriptions. Critically appraise the outcomes of relevant research, evaluations and audits and apply them to improve practice. Alert individuals and organisations to gaps in evidence and/or practice knowledge that requires resolution through research. Contribute to specialist forums and National initiatives. Identify areas for nursing research, sources of funding and initiate research projects.
