We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Speech & Language Therapist to join the Inpatient Stroke and Early Supported Discharge (ESD) team. The post is 0.8 WTE to be worked across the 2 services.

The inpatient service is currently based at the Princess Royal Hospital Telford. The ESD service is community based working from the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

This post holder will join other Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Dietitian and assistants.

They will support clinical pathways, keep up to date with evidence based practice, drive service development and support more junior staff. The post holder will have clinical experience in Stroke/ Neurology and previously successful implementation of service improvement.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced therapist to make an impact on patients' Stroke recovery through assessment and treatment along the clinical pathway from Acute/ Subacute setting into the ESD team.

Development of specific clinical competencies e.g. Video Fluoroscopy can be supported for the right candidate if required.
This role will be supported with their clinical learning and development by our Band 8a Instrumental Assessment & Complex Dysphagia SLT.

This role will have a band 7 SLT job share partner for the inpatient service and work with a Band 6 SLT in the ESD team.

To lead and provide expert SLT care to patient in the inpatient stroke and ESD teams. To provide swallowing and communication assessments and treatments as per SSNAP standards.
To provide support and education to colleagues both within and outside of the teams. To demonstrate evidence of clinical expertise in this field and working to evidence based practice
