A Vacancy at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.
The Greater Manchester Perinatal Service has been developed to deliver perinatal mental health care in an integrated manner across the whole system. This is an opportunity for a Specialty Doctor to join a well-established, reputable perinatal service that delivers perinatal mental health care in a unique manner based on a whole system approach.
The team consists of:
• 3 x Substantive Consultant Psychiatrists
• 1 x Specialty Doctor (this post)
• 1 x Core Trainee
• 1 x Team Manager
• Community Psychiatric Nurses
• OT
• Social Worker
• Advanced Clinical Practitioner
• Community Nursery Nurses
• Psychologists
• Medical Secretaries
• Team Administrator
• The Specialty doctor will be expected to hold a caseload and carry out antenatal and postnatal outpatient clinics
• Assess new patients and follow-up patients on the caseload
• Carry out MHA assessments as appropriate and respond to urgent requests from the team
• Support the team and carry out urgent home visits as they arise throughout the week.
• Liaise with social workers, specialist mental health midwives, care co-ordinators from other mental health teams, health visitors and other health and social care professionals involved in a patient’s care
• The Specialty doctor will be expected to engage in clinical supervision and discuss cases at the weekly MDT
• To complete contemporaneous notes and complete referrals in a timely manner
• The Specialty doctor will be expected to give advice to GPs around medication in the perinatal period
• The Specialty doctor will be expected to raise safeguarding concerns appropriately and action social care referrals in a timely manner
