Calderdale strives to develop our community to improve the local economy. Within Calderdale the Homelessness Service assists members of the public to identify a wide range of tenancy and other housing issues and provide advice and support to residents to remain in their home or find alternative suitable accommodation.
Due to the Renters Rights Act 2026, we are strengthening our private rented sector offer and following successful internal promotion require a Landlord Liaison Officer to act as a single point of contact for private sector landlords in Calderdale and to provide and continue to develop a comprehensive tenancy liaison service. The person appointed will work directly, both virtually and face to face, with private sector landlords to build relationships, drive up standards, resolve tenancy related issues promptly and appropriately, and where vacancies occur help to “match” to a suitable tenant.
The person appointed should have experience of working within a lettings or private sector housing setting, have knowledge of the legal processes of setting up/ending tenancies and be confident in negotiation with private sector landlords. You will join the new Private Rented Sector Team within the Homelessness Service, working closely with colleagues across both Housing and Environmental Health to support implementation of the Renters Rights Act, improve property and energy standards, and help deliver better-quality homes in Calderdale.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
