Hi everyone,

We are looking for a kind, reliable, and patient person to spend a few hours a day with our son.

About him:
- He is 15 years old and a friendly, easy-going teenager.
- He has a severe cognitive disability but is physically very active and capable.
- He is non-verbal but communicates using some pointing and a communication device.
- He enjoys routine and consistency. After a few days, you'll quickly get to know his favourite activities, toys, and places to visit.

What the role involves
Ideally, we are looking for support on weekday mornings (Monday to Friday), although afternoon availability would also work.

The role would mainly involve spending time with our son and supporting him in activities he enjoys, such as:
- Going for walks
- Visiting the local swimming pool
- Spending time at home with his favourite toys and activities

We would prefer a mix of outings and home-based activities, depending on the day and Isaac's preferences.

Looking Ahead
If you both build a good rapport, we would love to have ongoing occasional support throughout the rest of the year.

If you are interested or would like more information, please get in touch. We would be delighted to hear from you.

Duties include:
- Eating and drinking assistance
- Other relevant duties as required
- Companionship
- Dressing / undressing
- Go for a walk, support swimming, and help him stay active outside
- Keep him busy as you would a 3-year-old child

Candidate qualities:
- Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Honest and cheerful
- Creative
- Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
- Experience working with non-verbal individuals requires patience and adaptability
- No formal qualifications are needed, just a cheerful and active personality.

Notes:
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.

If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.

Please note: If you do not hear back within three weeks of applying, unfortunately your application has not been successful on this occasion.
