Support Worker

Support Worker – Irvine
Rate of Pay: £14.59 per hour
Hours: two Saturday evenings per month (4 hours)
Job Reference: 00/Irvine/SD

We are looking for a caring, reliable, and flexible Support Worker to support a man in his 30s who enjoys gardening, keeping fit, socialising, and being part of his local community.
The person you will support likes to be in control of his own life and choices and is looking for someone who can provide guidance and encouragement while respecting his independence. He enjoys getting out and about, meeting people, trying new experiences, and developing friendships within his community.
The role involves supporting him with daily living, social activities, community involvement, and maintaining both his mental and physical wellbeing. This includes encouraging a balanced approach to decision-making, helping him stay safe at home and in the community, and supporting him to recognise when he may need additional help or support with his mental health.
You will support him to access local groups, activities, and community resources, as well as organised recreational activities and social opportunities, including support to go out socially on Saturday nights. The role also includes helping him manage practical day-to-day tasks, relationships, emotional wellbeing, and coping with feelings and stressful situations.
We are looking for someone who is flexible, trustworthy, dependable, and able to use a calm and common-sense approach. The successful person should be able to remain calm in stressful situations, communicate and listen well, and work positively as part of a team. They should be respectful, non-judgemental, able to maintain confidentiality, and comfortable taking direction, while also working in a reflective and thoughtful way. A positive outlook, willingness to learn new skills, and respect for the rights, choices, and individuality of the person being supported are essential.
Experience in support work is helpful but not essential for the right person with the right values and attitude.
This is an opportunity to make a real difference by supporting someone to live a full, active, and meaningful life within their community.

Post subject to successful reference and PVG checks.

Two up to date Reference contacts are required one of which must be from a present or previous employer. In addition, a new PVG enhanced disclosure will be required prior to appointment (disclosure cost to be met by the employer).

Probationary Period attached, 6 months to this post. During this period, either party can end the employment by giving the other one weeks’ notice.
