Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

• Significant experience supporting children with SEMH, ASD, or similar needs
• Competence and experience of TEAM Teach or other positive handling strategies
• Competence and experience in total communication systems
• Competence and experience of Attention Autism
• Understanding and experience of trauma informed practice
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities
• Strong levels of resilience and a good sense of humour
• Excellent interpersonal skills both in a working relationship with young pupils and in forming effective professional relationships with a wide range of contacts
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Flexibility to adapt learning experiences within the moment to maintain and promote engagement
• Ability to promote a positive ethos and role model positive attributes
• Ability to work with children at all levels regardless of specific individual need
• Effective oral and writing communication skills
• Calm, consistent, and confident when supporting pupils with behavioural or emotional needs
• Knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum including Maths and English
• Effective use of computing to support learning

The successful candidate will be based in our Designated Provision and will work across both key stages supporting children with ASD and SEMH.
